Once there was a well shaded by nine magic hazel trees. These trees bore crimson nuts which gave knowlege of everything in the world. Divine Salmon lives in the well and ate the nuts. No one, not even the high gods, was allowed at the well. But Boann went anyway. The well waters rose to drive her away, but they never returned. Insted they became the River Boyne and the salmon became inhabitants of the river.
